There are no doubt a growing list of reasons, but the big one is usability.  
Squeak's (lack of) concept of input focus is a HUGE pain; its defaults of mouse 
buttons are weird.  I could go on, but I prefer to use and (to the extent that 
I can) help to advance Pharo.
