The sendmail upgrade has generated an
incredible amount of controversy & hand
wringing, which is somwehat puzzling -

I've said it once and I'll repeat it -

Try postfix - it's included in phoebe -

I was "Mr Sendmail" for years, but was
pleasantly surprised to see that postfix
not only does all the tricks we're doing
with sendmail (multiple alias files, RBL,
access db, virusertable, mailertable,
genericstable, procmail, spamassasin)
but does so with less fuss and better
performance.

Why not at least try postfix? It's a drop
in replacement for sendmail, designed
with security and performance in mind.
