My guess is that RH9 is going to be called Stealth. Then again, it might be called "plain as day"

The "Stealth" bit was my own little joke. The first I heard of the release was buried in the RHN "Get rid of your 6.2 and 7.0 machines" message. When I checked the redhat.com front page I didn't immediately see the link for 9.0, since it's below the fold. At that point I thought that maybe the RHN notice had jumped the gun.
I also wanted to be the first on the list to post a release date, and I won by four whole minutes. ;)

Thanks for the explaination regarding the subject line for the message. I assumed that you saw the reference to Stealth somewhere.

I guess knowing that it is version 9, without a name, is good enough. Hopefully, the distro will be fairly stable and deal with hardware well.

The comments regarding the video cards and IDEs to work out of the box fit my experience with Red Hat. I hope that pcnet_cs and my pcmcia card are recognized correctly with this new release. I get tired of having to save olderconfiguration files and adding special commands to the system, to get the card to work.
WEP and wireless cards is a concern, in empathy for other RH converts. I hope they added a feature to deal with the three rotating keys.

I'll be a week behind the subscribers for trying the new release though.

Jim
