Hello all
I recently purchased a derelict Amberola X, with a cabinet so bad it needed
replacement. Missing veneer, 1/3 of the lid missing, etc, Luckily the machine
was the bargain of the day. I located a new cabinet, and you can see the
before/after pic here:

The odd thing about it is that the gold striping details on the corners of the
bedplate are the old "tufts of grass" pattern rather than one of the later
scroll designs. Anyone have any ideas as to why they would have changed from
the scrollwork design to one that hadn't been used for about 9 years by that
point?
Also, there is a paper tag inside which is in three pieces now, and it had a
faint stamped date of August 13 (I think) 1914. Also the warning "This tag must
remain with cabinet". The tag says "Cabinet Number 19623; Type Amb. X; Finish
(blank); Workman's Check No. (33 written in pencil).
