That is really odd. From what I heard Zend Studio runs faster in Linux than Windows. I have only experienced the Windows version over someone's shoulder, but with similar machines mine seems to load faster and run better and I use Linux. Try upgrading to the new ZS3 if you haven't already. It is faster and better than 2.6. Well worth the money. I still find myself using vi/pico though more often than not. I guess it is all a matter of preference.
