Yeah, i can update a database. my friend does not have php enabled on
his free host, so i was going to store the php on my server, it would
then ftp to his, download, append the file and then re-upload to his server.

i have tested the download/upload, all works fine. but i am unable to
append to the file in the correct place.

am i barkign up the wrong tree with this idea and should i just keep
trying to convince him to pay for a decent host?

Hi Mark,
I still don't see what you're trying to do.
Are you trying to use your site to run cgi programs for your friend's site,
which doesn't have php installed?

Re: i am unable to append to the file in the correct place.
Do you mean you can append a file on his server, but not the one you want?
Or is it putting the contents in the wrong place within the file?

Regards, Bob E.
