Hi Maciej.

Thanks for taking the initiative!

I'd like to add something to the wishlist:

* See who's in charge of the bugtracker. Not the people handling the
bugs per se but those that have access to the machine running the
bug-tracker, those that have access to the github-repo, those that have
access to the DB etc. That would make it easy to know whom to address
directly. Having an anonymous "we all do it" sadly often results in a
"no one does it". Having Having people commit themselves to the task
gives the whole project a face to the customer and makes it easier to
address. At least that's from what I'Ve seen so far. Those "public
faces" don't need to be those that actually *do* stuff but they should
know whom to delegate the stuff.

bugs.php.net seems to respond from sgrv20.php.net Shame this box isn't
documented on wiki.php.net/systems at all :( So your point still stays
relevant.

* Where shall bugs or feature requests for the bugtracker be tracked? I
didn't find a category (or project) that would fit an issue for the
bugtracker within the bugtracker. So either we add it there, or activate
the github-issues. (I'd prefer the former). And keeping track within a
wiki isn't really working out well…

There is a generic "PHP.net Website Problem" category in the bugtracker
and as far as I can see it was used for this purpose since forever. Do
you think we should add subcategories for some of web-* projects?

Just my 0.02 €

Andreas

PS: Who has write-access to the wiki-page? (apart from you (-; )

Anyone with php.net account should be able to log in and edit it.

Cheers,
Maciej.

Hello guys,

while discussing possible ways to reduce number of open bug reports[1]
many people expressed their (valid, I think) complaints about our
bugtracker itself.

Could we keep those discussions separated? I just created new wiki page
https://wiki.php.net/ideas/bugtracker gathering some common ideas on
the matter.

I suggest to treat this thread like an open wishlist. I know there is a
log way between an idea and its implementation but we certainly need to
start somehow. Little discussion doesn't seem to do any harm.

Feel free to reply here and/or update wiki page. I'll take care of
syncing it if there will be a need.

Thanks,
Maciej.
