  Palm/3Com says you can't.  Unlike the previous OS updates, which were .PRC
files which installed as patches on top of the existing OS, this is a
permanent flash ROM update.  The software to support it is currently only
available for BorgOS and MacOS.

  Your best bet is to find a Windows machine and do the upgrade from there.
You can download the "Palm Desktop" software for Windows from Palm Computing's
website.  Pick the "Product Support" section.  It is about 7 MB.

  You could try running the Palm Desktop under WINE or VMware, but given the
critical nature of the flash ROM process, I wouldn't risk it.
