How many paid engineering decades have already gone into this whole IPS effort?
Was it required to re-invent yet another wheel (instead of reusing and
enhancing existing bits [Nexenta's approach, Moinak's Blog, or conary,
or Smart, <long list>] )?
Given the scenario Sun unilaterally picked in 2007: To start from scratch.
Then: Why Python?? Why not C (or maybe C++) ?

When do you think will it be out of the "experimental development labs" stages?
Was it wise to start from Zero? This time and money could probably
have been spent elsewhere? Maybe misc. time-constraints (often
complained about on lists such as caiman) would be less problematic
then, because those working on IPS could instead work on those other
parts, then?

Just questions. And just my personal opinion.
I simply see a few contradictions between your various statements at
different stages of it
(you, personally and you representing Sun and .com).

Ok, no fight.
Just questions.
Maybe I'm totally wrong.
