Right now it would be a manual process and for any sysadmin not familiar with package building with ips it would be utterly frustrating to do it at 3am because of some production issue needed to be fixed now, but once above would be implemented and hidden from a user then that would be more than fine.

Because installing a package w/o its dependencies constitutes modifying
the package in a way that doesn't meet the intent of the publisher.  In
the same way, we will not consider an option to delete files from
an installed package by regexp, for example.

We can make the task of republishing arbitrarily easy, but it's not
the sort of thing we wish to support on the command line.  Modifying
a package installation outside the specified boundaries of variants
and facets constitutes republication, and must be identified as such.
