pkg.opensolaris.org doesn't respond to pings at all. Tried from our
site and from outside our network. Firewall on pkg.opensolaris.org?
Yes, someone has decided to block it for some bizarre reason.
Still, a traceroute or the like should give you a hint as to the latency
involved.
Unfortunately not. As soon as the packets cross the border of our
corporate network, no useful information is returned any more, just
anonymous "* * *" :-).
Maybe I'll try to install a local pkg.opensolaris.org mirror for inhouse
usage. I just didn't find the instructions to do this yet.
