Just download
jdk-7-solaris-i586.tar from Oracle's website and untar it and run pkgadd -d . 
and let installation complete.
You may be able to reproduce it right away.

pkg can't help here, at least not while booted from the broken BE.
/var/pkg or parts of it are completely missing, which mean there's no image 
state information, which means no pkg operations can be performed.

I think it highly unlikely that pkgadd caused this.
