The goal of my proposed project is to provide keyboard input methods
that can be used to type non-English input more naturally than is
currently possible with compose sequences. Keymaps will be selectable
on a per-window basis (with ktrans this is tricky and requires
planning
ahead). Switching between keymaps will be fast and intuitive, and the
mechanism for managing them will be within easy reach of the user. In
addition I will write an onscreen virtual keyboard to view and to
aid in editing keymaps and for use on mobile devices without physical
keyboards. If anyone thinks there would be a use for it, I could do
multi-tap as well. If time permits I would also like to begin
implementing
bidirectional text, though that seems unlikely.
