Thanks everyone for the input.  A lot to think about.  I was wondering about
emacs on an ipac (because a friend has one) and discovered that there is
a version there.  Just an interesting note.

Well I am off to think about it.  Another thing I stumbled on was google's
Android, which might have possibilities, although whether someone is going
to port emacs and all its peculiarities to java is different question.

Well, I won't be rushing out immediately and buying something, as I need to
think this over some more, but at least I have something to think about.
