I've tried and the same thing occurs with the epsqt driver. In both cases gdb 
shows that the example is hanging on a connect system call in the cups 
library. I'm now wondering if the problem is actually to do with cups
configuration in my case rather than qt? Perhaps others can confirm / deny 
this?
