Mailman holds mail for posting where ezmlm .. well ezmlm was so impenetrable that even if a feature existed it was difficult to work out how to turn it on. So, now, mail from non-subscribers can get through, if I approve it. At the moment I get about 10 moderations per day, about 3 or 4 of which I let through (most of the rest are spam). So it really is a subscriber-only list but I am allowing some exceptions; under ezmlm it was completely automatic. If you don't think I should let the unsubbed senders through then i will stop. It's easier for me :). But I thought this struck a nice balance and made the lists friendlier. Also I knew that you and some others didn't know that I was doing this, I've been meaning to post about it for a while but things are crazy here as usual!! > > > The reason I'm posting this is so that you can make objections to what > > I'm letting through/not letting through. > > Well, I think all messages where the ratio between new text and quoted > text doesn't reach a certain limit should be rejected. I try to remember to turn off HTML mail to the list (I guess I should set up an address book entry to do that automagically). I don't personally subscribe to the HTML-in-email-is-bad viewpoint, but I don't want to be an autocrat so let the flames begin :) ... or not. Cheers! Mark -- Mark Lillywhite <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
