So I end up doing a batch (with command -d) and have it executed each hour
by a small scheduler called vswincron.

This combination tends to satisfy me.

Also, by creating my own channels very carefully (on settings for spider
especially), speed is really acceptable.

Consider myself as an avantgo to plucker convert ;)
