> A real book has pages, too But the book metaphor isn't that good considering your request for continuous scrolling, is it? What you want is a papyrus scroll, which went out of fashion a long time ago ;-)
It would have made more sense if you had requested that the viewer should break up the document into several pages (each the size of the screen, i.e. no scrollbar or percentage indicator) and provide a way to go to the next/previous page (and maybe also a TOC.) > You've already indicated that you have no > inclination to address this issue. Nope. I've said that I have no "immediate interest in fixing it" and that I won't work on it "at the moment." However, if someone else "fix" this you can be sure it has to be "reviewed" by me before it enters the code base, i.e. I'll have to do some work to "address this issue" ;-) > There's no need to defend that position. Huh? You said that Plucker is "nearly useless" as an e- book reader and I made some comments about that "fact." Don't know what that has to do with "defending my position", though. > Everyone understands that it's free software and the > time and effort that went into it. Well, I doubt *everyone* understands that ;-) > Dismissing their "demands" as "bitching" makes you > come off as unwilling to listen to user requests, > which is not the best way to promote your software. There are different ways to make your "demands"; this particular user did it the wrong way. Anyone that thinks I'm "unwilling to listen to user requests" can just take a quick in the bug database and they will see that I will spend quite some time on helping out users when required. Still, my comments are usually not that seriously meant and if they upset you then that's your problem; I guess you could call them tongue-in-cheek comments; that means "It's not really funny, but I'm not going to do it properly" ;-) Also, my work on Plucker is not part of some popularity contest; I couldn't care less about "promoting the software." If you like it then use it (and hopefully provide useful feedback); if you don't like it then don't use it. I won't lose any sleep over it... BTW, there have been some comments about paying us to add features to the viewer. I can only speak for myself and I will not prioritize a particular feature just because someone offers a "bounty" for it. Actually, I will *never* accept money for working on Plucker and I can promise you that I don't have a fat bank account that makes it easy to turn down offers ;-) However, I decided a long time ago that Plucker would be one of the projects I work on not only for my own pleasure but also in gratitude for all the great free software I have got access to, e.g. the GNU tools, Linux, prc-tools (the toolchain used to create Palm apps), the Palm OS emulator (another project I have contributed to), etc. That doesn't mean I have to accept stupid remarks from ungrateful users, though... /Mike _______________________________________________ plucker-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list
