torrent files dead?

I didn’t see a message yet in the archives and this looks like the right place to ask.   Are the torrent files on the main pages site dead? Or?   I am brand new to both torrent and plucker but I installed torrent only to keep getting file not found errors on all the torrent files on the plucker website.  I’m working out of WinXP though I don’t think that makes a difference in this case.   I tried a torrent file on a random website elsewhere, tho didn’t actualliy download the file, but got as far as the save as command, which is further then with the plucker site) and that seemed to work fine.   Any idea about how long till the files are back if they are indeed missing or how long until they are released normally without torrent?
