Hi All,

I don't know nothing about forming a newsgroup;
but would it be "cool" to form one for Plucker?

Example:

alt.soft-sys.plucker

Unfortunately, not everyone has the time or inclination to trawl through several sources for what turns out, in the end, to be largely duplicated information; I have had the misfortune of being involved with something which used newsgroups, mailing lists, Web forums (the ultimate horror - slow and clunky) and IRC and eventually gave up.

(I also speculate that a fair proportion of new[ish] users would not know
what Usenet is; at least in this country its existence is played down at
best, and more often not even mentioned, by ISPs).

Well it is possible to gate between the newsgroup and a mailing
list. Unfortunately nowadays you need serious anti-spam to make it
bearable. Alternatively you need someone with the time and energy to
moderate the newsgroup, or at least the relay between the newsgroup
and the mailing list.

Lookup news.gmane.org

They have an excellent gateway for email lists to/from news with enough security to stop nearly all spamming. It's free too & it works with open and closed lists.
