good thing ubuntu supports kickstart... i plan to deploy ubuntu +
crossover office + (sic) MS Office, for those who can't(don't want to)
use open office..

i have not tried restoring an image to a machine with a different
specification but i have read suggestions of a reinstall when changing
motherboards so this option might not be the best/feasible for your
situation. the kickstart solution might be more useful to you if it
supports target machines with varying specifications.
