I think Paolo meant this in the context of ports-by-cpu.[1] If so, then
the current NetBSD runs on 16 CPU architectures, a little more than what
most general-purpose GNU/Linux distros support.  However, there are
probably more special-purpose GNU/Linux distros, both FOSS and
company-in-house, that may support other architectures besides toasters.
