hi elmer, the best answer there is to check you local legislation first (eg. DOLE).. in every country they have different legislation.. for example my colleagues in UK and US doesnt get anything from their on-call work.. but they take a leave off to compensate with their hours spent on on-call.. in Finland, they get more.. if that week is their on-call week and they work from 8am to 6pm.. from 6pm to 8am that is 14 hours times half of their hourly salary rate with or without a call.. so while you are sleeping you are paid for it :-> if there is an actual call.. they are paid 150 percernt of their hourly rate... in singapore.. we work from 9 to 5 or 7 hours a day only (same as in Finland).. nokia values work and life balance... the more time for your love ones.. the more employees are being productive... furthermore.. the good thing is.. im not allowed to do overtime work and on-call job due to my job grade level... we are allowed to work from home anytime and i was allowed even to work from home in the philippines.. unfortunately.. our ISPs are not reliable as i did once working in the philippines (iloilo) before and i dont want to take any risks because of ISP's fault... fooler. _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List http://lists.linux.org.ph/mailman/listinfo/plug Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
