Thanks in part to Linux, and the FOSS community in general, there are a lot of 
Internet-based services you now get for free: email, apps, storage space, 
compute resources, etc.  But not everything is free.  If you are a 
freelance/independent consultant, you can still charge time-and-material for 
services you render.  How much you charge is totally up to you.
