Apparently part of the seamonkey problem here (or all of the problem) is that xubuntu-9.10 installs seamonkey-1.1.17 and there's a -2.x version available that fixes a bunch of problems.
When I look in the synaptic package manager on the laptop I see that seamonkey-1.1.17 is considered the latest version and there's no obvious offer to look for a newer package. What's the technique for getting a newer package for a specific application?
