Cameras have to be powered somehow. Wired cameras get their power over the
cable, CAT5 or coax. Wireless cameras need either batteries or wall wart.
Murphy says camera battery will be dead when event occurs. Wall warts have
short cables which greatly limits camera placement. Cables for wired
cameras are not really that hard to run if done with some careful planning.
Trail cameras run on batteries and record to SD cards. No real-time
viewing. Almost all security camera systems have infrared viewing for night
use.
