One thing I noticed about the Pinoy culture is the laziness to think when he
is comfy with a system. Of course there are exceptions, pero eto ang
observation ko.
But this boils down to education. No one is getting into Linux (except for a
few) dahil walang background, laging nasisingitan ng MS ad na mas magaling
sila kaysa sa iba. Dapat mag-start sa grass roots and it should start from
us. We should not expect too much sa DECS, malaking institution ang
babaguhing pag doon nagsimula. It will take years. Pero kung tayu-tayo ang
mag-convince sa friends natin na maggamit ng Linux it is a start. We may not
change the present software usage of the Philippines, but I'll bet we can
make a difference.

No money involved. Hmmm... that's right.
An additional benefit of using OSS in a lot of applications is when you need
to
deploy fast, you can because the Purchase Order for the free piece of
software does not need to be made! No red tape! At a critical point, it
will
spread like a virus if we seed enough new Linux people. (hmmm... we lose
our novelty....)
I'd like to see every Computer Science grad know how to install, network and
develop software under Linux.
Tayo tayo siguro dito medyo mga either cream of the crop or queer of the
crop
that's why we are into Linux. But that's the story of Sci-Tech for most
pinoys di
ba? If you are good in science and math and you like it, you're a "nerd".
In other countries, they are pushing it. China is pushing Linux et. al.
because
they don't trust Microsoft (US company). India wanted the cost benefit.
Mexico
did it. Why should the Philippines push Linux et. al. OSS?
