not necessarily. IMHO, it shouldn't be even bigger.

yes and no. On our moderately loaded unit, it barely even touches the
swap. Once it uses greater than 12 MBytes of swap (5% of our physical
memory) then we are compelled to put in more. Performance drops
considerably when the unit runs out of physical memory and have to use
swap. Good thing, 256MB modules are more reasonable now than two years
ago.

in the past, we use a swapspace 1.5 times the physical memory. Although
right now, on our units with 256 MB installed, we drop it to 1 or even .8
, just as a standard, no reason whatsoever.
IMHO, if you run out of memory, swap is not a substitue for adding more
physical memory.
