aha! just now, i too have dvd playback in linux! grabbed current xine tarballs, and recompiled some of the plugins.
xine+dvd-nav+em8300=dvd playback! works fine on the movie itself, dvd menus work, low cpu usage, great video and audio quality (although AV in special features are not in sync). and one more thing, i can do screen grabs, which would be impossible in CSS but not in Linux. now i'm happy... :)
