i don't use openoffice on linux (yep, slow alright) so i'm not very sure but i think the start-Oo-faster software will just preload the libraries and stuff Oo needs into memory. this is probably something like the quickstart/quicklaunch of mozilla on windows. the reason why office & IE start up fast on windows is because most of the stuff is already preloaded into memory. of course this doesn't discount the fact that Oo eats a lot of memory but at least if you have that much memory then it can work to your advantage :) _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
