I just found a workaround.  Instead of the backspace key, I used Ctrl+H
and it works just like how a good backspace would :D

I still want to know how to use the backspace right, though.  I tried
tinkering around with the Konsole settings, but still to no avail.  I'll
keep trying, and meantime, there's Ctrl+H :)
