Dare I point out that most - if not all - of the solutions proposed in this thread do not actually seem to address the problem of case sensitivity? Most define aliases that make NEWYEAR point to newyear, but I don't know if they'll handle NeWYeAR properly... ;) You may find http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/faqs/apache_faq_rewrite-nocase (I don't know how old this is) interesting if you have mixed-case files being served. However, if all your files are lowercase, then perhaps this may be of some use: RewriteEngine On RewriteMap lowercase int:tolower RewriteRule ^(.*)$ ${tolower:$1} Warning: I haven't actually tried this out. http://apache.lexa.ru/mail-archive/msg02072.html seems to back me up, though the follow-up to it looks like it notes that this can't deal with true case-insensitivity.
