I see,  might be the reason. honestly im not that knowledgable on using
Firebird.

maybe it's misconfigured somehow?

i have experience tuning a couple small-to-medium (e.g. 100,000 to
1,000,000 transactions per day) oracle instances and 2GB is plenty for
them..
