My home box is on XFS, and I have occasional problems with bad RAM
chips (symptoms include occasional SIGSEGVs), plus my winmodem manages
to panic my kernel occasionally. The only problem I've been having is
getting some open files badly corrupted on very rare occasions.

Then again, I'd think that even without a journaling FS, any
filesystem'll die on my hardware and I'll still get file corruption.
