IIRC, this might be a side effect of the distro packager's (i.e.
Patrick Volkerding) recent illness.

I'm going on my opinion, so IMO, yes... You might have to do the
patching yourself, from source. Anyway, if you're going Slak, I figure
you better know what you're doing.
