Rich, Please don't say whatever you said to Ben.

Ben, please engage in context on the call, calling him, myself, or anyone else out. After the fact is less helpful every minute that passes.

Otherwise, it is off-topic and no one has time here to litigate it.

My sincere apologies for anyone whose feeling were here while engaging with PLUG but this back and forth ends here. Call me out when I am out of line but I will have zero patience for a pissing match that should have been quickly resolved in context.

You are free to set these rules if you are willing to step up and organize the group for a decade or two.

100% of your PLUG membership dues will be refunded upon request.

Wow, ok. You engage me and then just push it away to a different list? WTF is this arrogant bullshit?

I really do deserve an apology for the crap you and Rich both pulled, but I don't expect either of you to do the right thing. I'm also not gonna try bring this up with a list "moderator" since that's pretty much you. So if you don't like my attitude just shut up and use the ban hammer.

Nobody likes having their words twisted so just apologize, shut up, and move the fuck on. And don't expect me to gush empathy for your pandemic problems. 7.5 billion people are dealing with it so fuck off dude.

Failure to teach basic linguistic skills will ultimately result in adults who routinely fail to understand simple statements. Not only am I struggling to properly convey my thoughts, you are struggling to properly understand the message as it was written. Imagine the chaos 20 years from now when the children of today's Zoom classes start taking on real responsibility.

If I read this correctly, you are saying that a number of attendees are struggling with basic comprehension, attendees, who, in my case, have had 8 hours of online events in 24 hours while juggling a job and the needs of a family of five during a pandemic.

Do I have that right?

No, that is not a correct. You actually ignored several important details and added the idea that I am judging you, personally. This is simply not the case and if you want to understand more.. read on...

Based solely on the single paragraph you pulled from my email, I can see why you would come to such a conclusion. In a sense, you made the same mistake Rich did earlier. Take a single piece from a larger message and extrapolate to form a completely new and unintended meaning. This often involves adding whatever you personally are feeling at the time into the mix even if the statement had nothing to do with you.

Which it did not. Who was Ben replying to? Where in his email was Michael mentioned? At what point did Ben refer to any PLUG users specifically?

It's kind of amusing to note that in the paragraph you quoted, I use the term "you are struggling..." Based on the text as it shows in my email client it appears that a user by the name of "Ben Koenig" made that statement in reply to a user named "Michael Dexter". However, if you go back to the original email you will notice that "Ben Koenig" was actually replying to "Rich Shepard".

So if Ben is referring to Rich, why is Michael taking it personally? Rich is the only person who has any reason to take this personally.

Also in that same paragraph, did Michael notice that Ben admitted that Ben sometimes struggles to properly convey his thoughts?

I'm really not trying to be mean here. I just think it's fascinating how quickly a conversation can fall apart and if I'm gonna be totally honest here.. I'm kind of annoyed that the emails I write are repeatedly twisted to mean things that I didn't actually write. I also admit that such scenarios amuse the hell of out me so I tend to poke the bear.

So relax.. and if you read all the way down to the bottom of this email before replying, congratulations!

-Ben
