John,

I thought that EAN (European Article Number) was the same as the
International Article Number while books used the ISBN (International
Standard Book Number). ISBNs changed from 10 digits to 13 digits, too.

I bought one of those scanners from Amazon to facilitate my creation of a
book database. I've started using a LO spreadsheet, but it's really slow
going to enter ISBN, author name, title, initial cost.

Using the scanner I'll make a text list of ISBNs then submit them in batches
to ISBM search web sites. I'll then put them in a SQLite database. Much
quicker than doing it all manually, one keypress at a time.
