Just an observation. Wandering missives about how none of this matters to YOUR life are neither constructive nor polite. I have some old code from a search "engine" I wrote. Going to dig it up tonight and see if I can set up a little experiment... I wouldn't say I've never run into the homonym issue but it's not gotten to the point of frustration to call a search engine "worse than useless". There's plenty to criticize Google for, but I've moved away from the tech field and the things that I use tech for and the ways that I interact w. tech Google's stuff including Android, Google Fi, etc works really well for my day to day life. If I were a journalist, activist, etc, I wouldn't use it and don't recommend it to those types of people. About the only things tech I pay attention to anymore are privacy & security stuff.
