There is also a config for the server: sshd_config
Oy! I forgot about that. The sshd_config files in both salmo and caddis are the same and do require passphrase authentification. On caddis my ssh attempt still fails and I am not certain about which file on salmo needs correcting: rshepard@caddis ~]$ ssh salmo @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ @ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @ @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY! Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)! It is also possible that a host key has just been changed. The fingerprint for the ED25519 key sent by the remote host is SHA256:/RInRdtcIMbpPu3LZmpg5wfAWi9ozQwgKLPnTQEDcxg. Please contact your system administrator. Add correct host key in /home/rshepard/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message. Offending ED25519 key in /home/rshepard/.ssh/known_hosts:2 Host key for [salmo]:14982 has changed and you have requested strict checking. Host key verification failed. Should salmo's id_ed25519.pub be in caddis' .ssh/authorized_keys? Thanks, Rich
