"Anyway, Ubuntu was and is a nightmare. Three minute boot, huge memory footprint, imposed updates that break things, especially my kludgy things. Mouse driven." There is a Debian based Linux Mint, LMDE, Linux Mint Debian Edition. Although, you could install any window manager you like, for example OpenBox, the default is the Cinnamon GUI Desktop Environment, which is designed for mouse navigation. If you want a default lightweight Debian distro, I'd recommend either BunsenLabs or Crunchbang++. Crunchbang is Debian 12, Bullseye w. Linux Kernal 6.1 Long Term Support. Both offer an installation script so the user can decide which packages to install based on the feature support wanted and/or use case for the computer. Cheers!
