Tithing is old testament law. We are not under the law we are under Grace.
The New Testament believer is required to give not Tithe. Tithing was put in place to support the Levites who were the priests and had no land. If someone tells you you must tithe, ask them for the scripture that says so. ------------------------ Keith Smith --- On Mon, 6/10/13, Joshua Marsh <jos...@themarshians.com> wrote: From: Joshua Marsh <jos...@themarshians.com> Subject: Re: Did Ed Snowden do the right thing? These estimates were a little bit like doing a survey in Provo, Utah and concluding that Romney would be the next president. The purpose of tithing is to support the goals of the church. The $50m/yr figure you are quoting is related to fast offerings. They are two funds that serve completely different purposes. If you lump them together, it looks bad, but so does thinking Romney would win off of a poll taken in Provo. > My opinion of JS is from well documented historical facts--from the > church's own archives--which are sufficient to demonstrate to any > reasonable, logical mind that he made a lot of stuff up and behaved himself > very appallingly even to current LDS standards. Nonetheless, the same could be said about just about anyone with whom we look back upon with tinted glasses. I've been reading about Abraham Lincoln and several of our founding fathers and many of the things I read blow my mind. I have to step back and look at it in the right frame of reference to make sense of it. /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */ /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
