Ceejay, I've never seen this before, so this is good progress! If you're using the latest version of the plugin, the session id is allocated the first time you connect to LastFM with each player. (Older versions stored only one session and may have problems with multiple players)
As far as I know the session remains valid indefinitely - have you had slimserver running for a long time? I will add some code to the plugin to get a new session ID/invalidate the current one when it gets this response.
