At a guess I'd say you don't have the LastFM plugin properly installed ... you say you have the "plugin.pm" file inthe plugins folder: thats not quite right, you should have a folder called LastFM in the plugins folder: this folder should contain the plugin.pm and an HTML directory.
Have another look in the ZIP file you downloaded for LastFM, and extract ALL its contents into the slim/plugins directory. Then restart and try again.
