Thats a good point that I forgot to mention - I have the MIP reload interval set to 0. I see no reason to have it set otherwise, unless you are frequently adding new music to MIP and having it analyzed. I've found also that having Slim get updates from MIP frequently can on occasion lead to duplicate information, such as duplicate artists list.
Its hard to say exactly where the problem lies. The MIP server certainly needs some work - it has issues with character encoding, that is handling non-UK/US letters and numbers. However, Slim's integration with MIP may also not be quite right.
