Just wanted to add thanks to mherger for making this available - it's working fine on my RPi3 server, with latest nightly LMS.
@2eleven: I've previously seen a similar issue where LMS stopped working due to lack of Spotify connectivity when my broadband was down, and was hoping it'd be resolved with this new implementation, but it seems that it may not be.
