I've just found this thread about exactly this Spotty/iPeng issue: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110601-iPeng-Playback-and-Spotty-not-working Michael advises "Disable Spotty -> Ogg streaming in Settings/Advanced/File Types". I have now done this, and all is working as it should (on Synology and on Debian laptop). SOLVED! Thanks, as ever, Pippin, for all your work and support!
