More info. If I allocate an "artist artwork" folder in the plugin settings and also uncheck the "Only download pictures for main artists, but not all contributors (composers, conductors etc.)" box then after a clear and rescan the issue goes away. So the issue appears to be with downloading artist images on the fly when they aren't stored in an artwork folder. On my main system I use the single configurable list of artists so I don't have the "All Artists" list so even if the same issue existed on the Debian version I wouldn't see it.
Would you have (in the All Artists category) any artists with odd names? Or any other way to narrow down what might be causing the issue? Eg. if you look at the (partially) loaded page, which images would be missing?
