Does anyone have any idea how to get Spotty on a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian to allow local discovery of players? This seems to be a common problem and if something can be uninstalled or disabled to allow this it would help a lot of users.
What other services are you running that might conflict or which might be using avahi?
