Erland, I've actually stopped using custom browse. What I would like is something that allowed me to choose the tags in a pretty random order - hierarchical systems don't match my thought/browse patterns.
For example, I like the dabs system - see www.dabs.com - where you can select Storage > Internal storage devices, then you can choose the various options from the database fields in whatever order you like. And they're dynamic, so it only shows relevant options. My classical genre tags are as follows: period (baroque, romantic, classical, ancient etc), scale (chamber, solo, orchestral etc), instrument (piano, quartet). There are a few more minor ones too. I'd like to be able to choose Orchestral, then a composer, then a conductor; next time I might go conductor first, then his baroque music. The custom browse doesn't allow this flexibility, as it is hierarchy only. (Maybe it would be possible to have the first item as being "choose another genre"? But we'd need a "Choose a composer" one, so would get untidy quickly.) My ideal system would be like the dabs system. I would have a configurable tag (call it CUSTOMGENRE, why not?), which I could populate with "Instrument:Piano;Scale:Orchestral;Period:Classical", and it would automatically create an 'Instrument' drop-down and allow me to select the valid entries according to what is filtered already. In terms of info visible, I'd like a search Amazon, Wikipedia, Last.fm etc area that automatically populated for composer, composer + piece, conductor and orchestra. Configurable new search engines or sites would be nice too - like Gramophone reviews. Well there's a few minutes' coding for you ;) Cheers - HTH Adam -- adamslim Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others http://www.last.fm/user/AdamSlim/ 'Last.fm group: people who don't listen to any of last.fm's top artists' (http://www.last.fm/group/People+who+don%27t+listen+to+any+of+last.fm%27s+top+artists) SB+, EAR 859, Living Voice Auditorium II plus some other stuff SB3, Shek d2, Ming-Da MC84-C, Harbeth HL-P3ES ------------------------------------------------------------------------ adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35420 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
