Hi all, Long time lurker, first post.
I've just built a set of single driver fullrange speakers, they are running a little hot at the top end. Everything else is nice, good imaging, staging and timing. I've built these thinking that less components in the signal path should allow me to get closer to the music. I know they need a BSC circuit in place to attenuate the top end from about 400Hz and by up to 6DB, the level of attenuation is tunable by changing resistors in the BSC. The BSC has a zobel network in place to stabilise the impedance of the speaker as well which I'm not really wanting to inplement. What I'm wondering is, would it be possible to create a DSP BSC with a variable attenuation level and possibly a moveable implementation point ? This way I can avoid any other components in the path and choose a level of BSC that works in my room without needing to faff around with a million resistor combinations. I had a play with the EQ in Inguz but rather than humps I really want a flat attenuation from around 400Hz up. I have an ECM8000 to use to do room correction but I'd like to keep it simple I guess, I don't need to worry about phase/room nodes etc Is it possible to create a EQ or filter manually to do what I want ? When I've got the settings I like I'll build a circuit and see which is better, active or passive attenuation. Excuse me waffling on ;) Cheers, Sedge.
